ACCREDITATION OF PRIOR LEARNING (APL)

Our University partner has adopted a policy that allows applicants' the Acknowledgement of Prior Learning (APL), whether certified or experiential, to be used as partial credit towards some courses, where appropriate. There is a process in place designed to evaluate academic and professional qualifications, as well as practical experience possessed by applicants. The Registry of our
University partner will carefully consider a candidates prior studies with other Higher Education Institutions, but also other education (e.g., studies with Professional Bodies) individually. Applicants who can demonstrate evidence of extensive and relevant work experience may be accepted to study at the most appropriate level.

.

APL / ASSESSMENT

The APEL-Procedure applied by our University partner allows students and adult learners of all ages with significant prior learning experiences gained either through incomplete or sub-degree studies as well as through informal routes, to earn advanced credit towards a Bachelor’s degree or doctorate´s degree through the presentation and assessment of a documented portfolio of prior experiential learning. Upon assessment a university certificate will be released.

The duration of courses and study programmes may be reduced if advanced standing credit is granted by means of assessment centre evaluation, by direct credit transfer and/or APL-Procedure. Maximum credit transfer is limited to 50% towards Bachelor programmes. The student will be informed in writing if an assessment has to be passed to clarify statements made in the application or to ascertain the grant of additional credits by examination, interview or other means of evaluation.
