University Campus Kerkrade
The University Institute for International and European Studies (UNIES) and its administrative offices are situated in the old historic Abbey of Rolduc in Kerkrade in the Netherlands. UNIES is governed by its own statutes and regulations.
With its comprehensive range of facilities, Rolduc provides an inspiring backdrop for UNIES studies. The Abbey complex has 16 rooms for lecturing with capacities varying from 10 to 450 persons. Complete room and board services for students are also available.
Seminar rooms are equipped with modern equipment but also offer their own special charm, due to the historical ambience. The original abbey rooms have been completely renovated and adapted to suit modern times while paying due respect to tradition. State-of-the-art audiovisual equipment and other functional aids, supporting studies, are readily available. Moreover, the famous Rococo library at Rolduc can be visited for scientific research. The campus also offers accommodation and catering as well as sports facilities, and car-parking is available free of charge.
This is environment offers UNIES the perfect study environment, but hosts its administrative offices as well. A hallmark of the education programmes is the emphasis on the relational and collaborative nature of learning. Thus, the UNIES cultivates a campus based learning ethos that produces a highly stimulating academic learning experience in addition to the manifold educational methodological approaches.
